Real estate investment firm appoints James Lane to lead IR program

Florida-based investment fund TerraCap Partners has brought in James Lane as its first director of investor relations to both raise capital and communicate with clients.

‘The opportunities to earn substantial returns in commercial real estate investing in the US are growing by the day,’ says Lane. ‘As TerraCap grows to harness those opportunities, strong investor relations, client communications and transparency are extremely important to TerraCap’s overall plans to build a first-rate institutional firm.’

Before joining TerraCap, Lane, a marketing management graduate, worked at Opal Financial Group, moving up from sales associate to vice president of sales before being promoted to senior vice president in 2009.

In addition to his IR duties, TerraCap says in a press release that Lane will ‘use his contacts in the institutional investor community to assist the firm in raising capital for its latest real estate private equity fund, TerraCap Partners II, as well as the firm’s future funds.’

The real estate private equity company, which invests mainly in ‘distress situation commercial real estate’, says Lane’s appointment highlights rising investment opportunities in the commercial real estate market, which TerraCap maintains is ‘on the path to recovery following the recent residential upswing. ‘The firm is currently raising a $200 mn fund for real estate, with commitments totaling more than $106 mn to date from a range of institutional investors.

In the company release, Robert Gray, co-managing principal at TerraCap, says: ‘We continue to significantly outperform in selling assets at profits far above investor guidance and executing business plans at higher levels of occupancy and rents than were projected.’
