The IR Magazine Greater China Conference & Awards 2011 took place in early December at the Conrad Hotel in Hong Kong. Delegates from companies all over Greater China – mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan – had the chance to come together with their peers to discuss issues relating to investor relations, corporate governance, shareholder needs and the role of senior management in IR.
The conference
For this year’s event, we have been consulting with our recently formed Advisory Board for the IR Magazine Greater China Conference to ensure the program meets the needs of people involved in managing the relationship between companies and the investment community in the region, and provides them with valuable and actionable advice.
The awards
Coupled with the conference was our exclusive lunchtime awards ceremony. This annual event honors the Chinese companies and individuals doing the best job of communicating with investors and analysts – in the opinion of those investors and analysts themselves.
The winners of the awards are identified by an investor perception study which is being carried out this year by Mary Maude Research, the firm that does the research underlying IR magazine’s US, Canada and Europe Awards. The research takes the form of hundreds of in-depth telephone interviews with individuals across Greater China and Singapore to find out not only which companies’ IR those investment professionals rate most highly, but also why.
Once the survey is complete, the award winners have been announced and the trophies presented, IR Insight, Cross Border’s research arm, publishes a report of the study. This report documents the interviews with the investment community together with additional material from the companies that have scored well. The aim here is to further investigate the particular challenges successful companies have faced, any new initiatives they may have adopted or changes they may have made to their IR team structure, their policies or their practice.
The end result of this rigorous research is a truly comprehensive study, from both the corporate and investor perspectives, of the state of investor relations in Greater China today. To order your copy of the Investor Perception Study, Asia 2011/2012 click here.
